The British clothing manufacturer Barbour has announced the launch of the Barbour International Authentic Motorcycle Collection, marking a welcome return to motorcycling. With this new collection, you will find that modern features have been fused with the same classic styling that has made the brand iconic. As a result, the updated wax cotton Black Shadow International Jacket and trousers now come equipped with CE-approved armor which is provided by British protection specialists Forcefield Body Armour.
For more than 75 years, the wax cotton international jacket has been an integral part of Barbour’s collection and a favorite amongst motorcyclists. The new and improved jacket has been redesigned to accommodate Forcefield CE-approved elbow and shoulder armor, and a Forcefield Level 2 back protector as standard. Manufactured in 8oz wax cotton, Barbour’s International motorcycling jacket features a near identical specification to the original International albeit with a new waterproof tartan lining and a reflective belt.
The jacket features a dark red satin zip-out thermal liner which can be removed on warmer days, and the nostalgic diagonal chest pocket, originally introduced in 1951 for quick access to maps remains. For added protection, the jacket can be combined with the wax cotton over-trousers, the newly-developed Black Shadow International Trousers zip together with the International jacket. The trousers also feature Forcefield CE-approved armor in the knee and hip areas, as well as a waterproof lining.
The Barbour International Authentic motorcycle jacket will be priced at £399.99 (currently $597.23 U.S. dollars) including elbow and shoulder armor and a Level 2 back protector. The trousers will be priced at £239.99 (currently $358.33 U.S. dollars) and will incorporate knee and hip armor. All the armor has been produced specifically for the Barbour collection by Forcefield Body Armour. Both pieces will initially be available exclusively through MotoLegends and will be on sale at the beginning of March.
