Gather around the campfire, young ‘uns, and grampa will tell you about the glory days of motocross, when legendary riders like Bill Nillson, Torsten Hallman, and Rolf Tibblin rode Husqvarnas to victory in races all over the world, and American heroes like Malcolm Smith chose Husky as their weapon of choice. Husqvarna went back to its Swedish roots on October 5 when it introduced its 2014 model range in Uddevalla, home of the annual MXGP of Sweden, and it looks like those glory days might be coming back.
The new model range focuses on off-road competition bikes for MX and enduro. (A moment of silence, please, for the capable TR650 series, which didn’t survive the transfer of Husky’s ownership from BMW to the Pierer Group.) The MX range shows Husky’s loyalty to the two-strokes that made its name with both 125s and 250s as well as an 85cc minicross bike for those little up-and-comers. The four-stroke MX range includes the FC250 and FC450. All 2014 MX and enduro models feature a chrome-moly steel frame with a polyamide rear subframe, and fully adjustable WP suspension.
The enduro range includes the TE250, and TE300 two-strokes, and the FE250, FE350, and FE501 four-strokes. They all come with a WP 4CS closed-cartridge front fork with separate chambers, and the rear shock comes with a linkage system developed specifically for enduro riding. All enduros except the TE125 come with electric starters.
Look for the 2014 Husqvarnas in dealer showrooms staring in Spring 2014.
